About

Most of my experience has been focused on AWS, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, observability, reliability, and platform engineering. I’ve worked in environments ranging from early-stage startups to large-scale platforms supporting hundreds of millions of requests per day and more than 100 microservices.

Over the years I’ve worked extensively with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Docker, observability tooling, and distributed systems, while also contributing with Go, Python, and JavaScript when needed.

I was born and raised in the Netherlands and have been calling Vancouver home since 2019, where the trails have won me over for running, walks, and hiking. Away from the keyboard I'm usually sim racing, planning my next trip, playing or watching sport. I'll play pretty much any sport, and follow lots of different sports, but soccer and Formula 1 are the two I never miss.

Built a multi-region AWS platform from scratch with ECS, GPU-backed EC2, S3, CloudFront among others. Scaled a consumer audio app to 100,000+ users in its first week with zero critical outages, and ran a GPU-backed ML inference pipeline (Whisper, Qwen, LangChain) over 200,000+ hours of audio.

Led the migration of on-premise services to a hybrid AWS architecture (ECS + Kinesis event streaming) while managing on-prem infrastructure with Linux, Ansible, and Proxmox, and built CI/CD and Node.js, React, and Python services for 10,000+ miners (>$1M MRR).
